This coastal site along the Osa peninsula in Costa Rica was the area of interest for the development of an ecological retreat center for guests to immerse themselves and commune with non-human neighbors in one of the most biodiverse regions in the world. The client needed a high-level map of the site and it’s unique ecological features in order to lead a weekend site visit and visioning charette with potential investors. The following diagrams were produced using QGIS.
This map utilizes satellite imagery to show a more accurate coverage of tree canopies and vegetation extents.
This map strips away the satellite to highlight the topographic and hydrologic features of the site beneath the canopy.
It also features a section which traces the path of the stream through the site, highlighting the destination waterfall that the client intends to venture to.
